WTO Building in Geneva

ICTSD: Research and Publications Archive

The International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD) was a Geneva-based organization that worked to make trade policy more supportive of sustainable development. This page provides access to its archived research and publications, now hosted by IISD.

International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD)

Founded in Geneva in 1996, the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD) was a non-profit, non-governmental organization that worked to shape trade policy in support of sustainable development. Through independent research, dialogue, and reporting, ICTSD brought together a wide range of global actors—including governments, civil society, and intergovernmental institutions—to foster inclusive and informed policy discussions.

For over two decades, ICTSD played a key role in connecting policymakers with experts and stakeholders, helping bridge gaps between economic, environmental, and social priorities in global trade discussions.

Following ICTSD’s closure in December 2018, IISD assumed ownership of its website and content in December 2020. The website was formally unpublished in May 2025, but its legacy continues through the ongoing republication of its materials.
