Session 2 | Americas, Africa, and Europe (afternoon)

(Open to public)

Countries seeking to transition away from fossil fuels face significant financing and macroeconomic barriers, from large upfront investment needs and limited fiscal space to external economic vulnerabilities, legal obstacles, and financial incentives that can work against reform. In two regionally tailored webinars, IISD and its partners will bring together governments, financial institutions, think tanks, and civil society organizations to move from identifying these challenges to exploring practical solutions.

Drawing on existing initiatives and useful precedents, the discussions will identify actions and quick wins ahead of the Tuvalu conference, while helping build a network that can support country-led implementation.

This webinar aims to:

  • Enable inputs from stakeholders, particularly from the Global South on workstream 2 of the Santa Marta process.
  • Gather initial expressions of interest from participants in joining a coordinated network focused on the macroeconomic dependencies and financial incentives pillar.

Please note this webinar has been organized with two session options to accommodate participants across different time zones. Session 1 is tailored to Asia-Pacific, Africa, and European regions. If you would prefer to join the Americas session please join us in Session 2.
