Trade and Sustainability Hub

IISD's Trade and Sustainability Hub brings together communities and stakeholders from around the world to discuss policy issues at the intersection of trade and sustainable development.

Our Trade and Sustainability Hub fosters dialogue and thoughtful discussion about trade policy’s role in contributing to sustainable development. We regularly gather a global community of stakeholders to develop and discuss innovative solutions to challenges we face in reconciling trade, inclusivity, and the environment.

Our main events are scheduled to coincide with the World Trade Organization (WTO)’s Ministerial Conferences, which bring together all WTO members to make important decisions on global trade rules. Our Hub events cover issues on the WTO’s agenda, like negotiations on new rules on agricultural trade, as well as issues off the agenda, like trade and climate measures.

Our inaugural conference took place from December 1 to 3, 2021; our second conference took place from June 13 to 15, 2022. Our latest Hub event took place in Abu Dhabi in February 2024: the agenda, videos of all the sessions, and our partners and supporters are all available online.

This week, we are hosting our fourth Trade and Sustainability Hub in Yaoundé, Cameroon (March 26–28, 2026). Held alongside the WTO’s 14th Ministerial Conference (MC14), the 2026 Hub discussions will unfold across three key thematic streams: Delivering for Agriculture, Delivering an Inclusive Low-Carbon Global Economy, and Delivering Digitized Industrialization Where Small Business Thrives.

You can still register to join in person or online.
