China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development - CCICED
The China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED) was established with the approval of the Chinese government in 1992.
Consisting of senior Chinese and international officials and experts, and chaired by China’s Executive Vice-Premier, it serves as a high-level advisory body with a mandate to conduct research and to provide policy recommendations to the Government of China on China’s environment and development.
The Council meets once a year at an annual general meeting (AGM), usually held in November and attended by upwards of 300 observers, to consider the reports and recommendations of task forces and special policy study groups that work throughout the year on various aspects of environmental and sustainable development policy. At the conclusion of the Meeting, the Council, drawing from these reports and an "issues paper" from its scientific Chief Advisors and from discussion during the AGM, approves a set of policy recommendations to the Chinese Government.
CCICED's Secretariat International Support Office (SISO) is managed by IISD.
