China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development - CCICED
The China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED) was established in 1992 with the approval of the Chinese government.
Consisting of leading international and Chinese experts and senior officials, and chaired by China’s Executive Vice-Premier, CCICED serves as a high-level advisory body with a mandate to conduct research and provide policy recommendations to the Chinese Government on environment and development.
The Council meets once a year at an annual general meeting (AGM), attended by over 300 observers, to consider the reports and recommendations of special policy study groups that work throughout the year on various aspects of environmental and sustainable development policy. At the conclusion of the Meeting, drawing from these reports, insights from its scientific Chief Advisors and discussions during the AGM, CCICED approves a set of policy recommendations to the Chinese Government.
CCICED's Secretariat International Support Office (SISO) is managed by IISD.
