Ekpen Omonbude
Senior Policy Advisor
Ekpen Omonbude is a senior policy advisor for the Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development in the Economic Law and Policy team. His work involves leading the research pillar of the Global Mining Tax Initiative and contributing to the delivery of technical assistance for governments.
Ekpen is an energy and mineral resources economist with over two decades of experience in commercial banking, research, management, strategy, and capacity building for infrastructure development. A decade of this experience was gained at the Commonwealth Secretariat and devoted to managing and delivering economic and policy support to Commonwealth countries in the mining, energy, and infrastructure sectors.
Ekpen holds a PhD in petroleum policy and economics from the University of Dundee, Scotland, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Abertay, Scotland, and a bachelor’s degree in economics and statistics from the University of Benin, Nigeria.
Ekpen speaks English and is based in London, United Kingdom.
