Tallash lives in Glasgow, via Nairobi, Boston, and Jakarta. She holds a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School at Tufts University, and is currently engaged in doctoral studies at the University of Strathclyde on a One Ocean Hub studentship. Her research looks at regime interaction and the limits of corporate accountability in the study of plastic waste in the ocean.
For her undergraduate, she studied International Relations and Environmental Studies at the United States International University-Africa. From 2013-2014, Tallash worked as communications officer for the UN Office for REDD+ Coordination in Indonesia, allowing her the privilege of interacting with key stakeholders in the management of forestry and climate change. Her current research interests include ocean governance, corporate accountability, chemicals management, biodiversity, and decolonized conservation. She loves political debates, and is a staunch believer in independence.
Her other interests include promoting anti-racism, civic engagement, anti-racism, and the rights of the disenfranchised. She is working hard to perfect the Glaswegian accent in kiSwahili.
