Maria Barral
Communications Officer
Maria Barral is a communications officer with the Economic Law and Policy program. She serves as the communications lead for IISD’s Trade and Agriculture workstreams.
She has over 6 years of experience working at the intersection of communications and development. Prior to joining IISD, Maria held communications officer positions at the World Trade Organization and COFCO International.
Maria completed her studies in journalism and political science at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona and the City University of Hong Kong. She holds a master’s degree in political and institutional communications from the UPF Barcelona School of Management and has completed courses on MBA Essentials at London School of Economics, and Political Science and Big Data for Social Good at Harvard University.
Maria is based out of Geneva and speaks English, Spanish, and Catalan and has a basic knowledge of French and Mandarin.
