Trade Policy in Support of Climate Change Adaptation
This workshop brought together experts and policy-makers in trade, climate policy, and agriculture to explore how trade policy can support Viet Nam’s climate adaptation goals. With a focus on the agricultural sector, participants discussed the links between international trade and climate adaptation, along with opportunities for embedding adaptation into trade frameworks. The event marked the beginning of a broader research initiative on trade and resilience in the Indo-Pacific.
Trade and climate change are deeply interconnected. This workshop focused on how Viet Nam’s trade policy can enhance climate resilience, especially in agriculture, a sector both vital for trade and highly exposed to climate risks.
The event gathered voices from government, academia, and the private sector to explore how trade can provide tools for adaptation by enhancing access to the goods and services required.
This kickoff workshop set the stage for future research and collaboration, contributing to the implementation of Viet Nam’s National Adaptation Plan and shaping trade policy.
