Sustainable Public Procurement Management at the University of Rome Tor Vergata
The purpose of this course is to enable participants to appreciate that sustainable public procurement is about making purchasing and investment decisions based on trade-offs.
IISD will be presenting to participants of the University of Rome Tor Vergata's International Master in Public Procurement Management program on the policy space for sustainable public procurement, innovation, market engagement and our Sustainable Asset Valuation (SAVi) tool.
This day-and-a-half portion of the course will cover:
- The complexities and the trade-offs involved in making procurement decisions about sustainable infrastructure.
- Why systemic thinking and planning are essential to optimizing positive externalities and co-benefits and to realizing better value for money across the asset life cycle.
- Why the lowest cost is not always the best alternative.
- How improved environmental, social and economic performance affects the financial performance of assets.
The purpose of this course is to enable participants to appreciate that sustainable public procurement is about making purchasing and investment decisions based on trade-offs. These trade-offs are linked to the environmental, social, economic and financial performance of an asset or service.
