IISD and CRB join forces to inform sustainable consumption-related policies and practices in India and beyond
The International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) and the Centre for Responsible Business (CRB) have signed a memorandum of understanding to promote sustainable consumption-related awareness, practices and informed public policy in India.
Formalized in Delhi by IISD CEO Patricia Fuller and CRB CEO Rijit Sengupta, the partnership aligns with India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision for a developed and resilient economy.
The collaboration moves beyond high-level policy to inform businesses' strategies and operations. By coalescing IISD’s international research with CRB’s experiences with driving the responsible business agenda in Indian industry and related stakeholders, the two organizations support various Government of India initiatives related to sustainable development.
Building on the two organizations' ongoing engagement on the topic, this partnership allows both organizations to work more closely together by developing joint action and policy research, thought leadership, and industry/stakeholder engagement.
"We are proud to formalize this partnership with the Centre for Responsible Business," said Patricia Fuller, President and CEO at IISD. "India is one of the world’s most dynamic economies, and the country’s ambition to grow sustainably is clear. IISD is focused on building more resilient value chains, and this partnership is a way to turn that research into practical action for businesses on the ground."
“A category of Indian consumers are increasingly becoming conscious of and supportive of climate and environment positive products and enterprises, which presents a rare opportunity for sustainable business advocates like CRB, IISD, and other organizations to build consumer awareness and industry practices on sustainable consumption. An enabling policy environment is emerging to support this, and the two organizations are excited to move this agenda forward," said Rijit Sengupta, CEO at CRB.
