Standards, Labelling and Certification

By Nathalie Bernasconi Osterwaller, Paul Waide on August 28, 2008
This paper looks at standards, labeling and certification, and their potential to address climate change objectives. It treats two different types of standards—product standards (based on product characteristics) and PPM-based standards (based on how the product was manufactured). The paper was prepared for the seminar on Trade and Climate Change, June 18-20, 2008, in Copenhagen, co-hosted by the Government of Denmark, the German Marshall Fund of the United States and IISD.
