Enhancing and developing skills that enable improved environmental management at the national and subnational levels, especially in relation to environmental impact assessment in both the public and private entities.

This project focuses on enhancing and developing skills that enable improved environmental management at the national and subnational levels, especially in relation to environmental impact assessment in both public and private entities.

It aims to assist in assessing policies, practices and best practices with a focus on the environmental assessment of high-impact projects such as mining, tourism and energy. The focus is also to integrate current practices in scenarios development and monitoring into environmental assessments in order to ensure that the considered alternative and long-term measurement is in compare to maximize social and environmental benefits.

This work builds on specific training resources we have developed on these issues, such as the Integrated Environmental Assessment (IEA) on-line interactive training resource platform developed for UNEP. The training resource covers key aspects of environmental impact assessments, and it was translated to all UN member state languages. So far, it has been applied in more than 20 countries.
