Zakaria Zoundi

Policy Advisor, Tracking Progress

Zakaria Zoundi is a Policy Advisor with IISD’s Tracking Progress team, exploring emerging frameworks to measure national and international progress, including Comprehensive Wealth.

As an economist and data analyst, he has explored relevant economic indicators beyond GDP, such as natural capital, production in general, human capital, and net foreign assets. Past work experience includes the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Zakaria holds a PhD in economics from Kobe University (Japan) and a master's degree in macroeconomics and development management from Université de Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso).
