William Davis

Economic Advisor

William Davis is an economic advisor with the Secretariat to the Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development (IGF). He has over 15 years of experience in mining and mineral processing, advising governments on fiscal models, industrial policies, and mineral value chains to foster sustainable economic growth.

Previously, William served as a senior economist at the Natural Resource Governance Institute, where he led mining policy research, authored numerous publications, and collaborated with stakeholders across the private and public sectors globally. He also contributed as a Technical Advisory Board Chair for the Global Mining Tax Initiative. His earlier roles included policy analysis for the UN Economic Commission for Africa and economic advisory for HM Treasury in the United Kingdom, with consistent recognition for his analytical rigour and impactful contributions.

William holds a master's degree in economics and a bachelor's degree in philosophy, politics, and economics, both from Oxford University.

Based in London, he is fluent in English and French and proficient in German.
