Stefanie Schacherer

Stefanie Schacherer is an Associate with IISD’s Economic Law and Policy Program and is based in Geneva, Switzerland.
Stefanie contributes to IISD’s advisory services to developing countries on questions of investment law and governance. Currently, she is involved in the TAF2+ long-term investment support to Burkina Faso (2020-2022). Stefanie is the author of numerous publications on sustainable development and international investment law, the European Union’s investment policy and the investment regime of Africa.
Stefanie worked for several inter-governmental institutions, including the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the African Union Commission and the European Union External Action Service.
Stefanie obtained a doctorate from the University of Geneva and the University of Vienna in July 2019. She holds a master's and bachelor of law from the University of Geneva, as well as an LL.M. from King’s College London.
