Ronald Tundang


Ronald Tundang is a practicing international lawyer based in Jakarta, Indonesia. He has over 10 years of experience working with governments and international organizations on international trade and investment law.

With IISD, he is assisting the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member states in promoting responsible investment in food, agriculture, and forestry. He also provides advisory support on the same topic for the members of parliaments that are part of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly.

Before working with IISD, he was a diplomat at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Washington, DC, and a legal adviser at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He holds a bachelor's degree in Law from Gadjah Mada University in Indonesia and a master's degree in public international law from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands.

A recent publication was his piece on the "US-China Trade War An Impetus for New Norms on Technology Transfer" in the Journal of World Trade's December 2020 edition. His speaking engagement on the Indo-Pacific Economic Architecture: An ASEAN Perspective was in the Proceedings of the 114th Annual Meeting of the American Society of International Law.
