Richard Halsey

Policy Advisor

Richard Halsey is a policy advisor for IISD based in Cape Town, South Africa. His work largely focuses on just transition, system transformation, and sustainable solutions related to energy in South Africa. He is motivated by contributing to solutions to complex problems that lead to positive change in society and the environment.

Richard has been active in the energy and climate change space since 2012, as a researcher and consultant for non-profit organizations as well as a network coordinator.

With a background in science, Richard holds a bachelor’s in mathematics from the University of the Witwatersrand and a master’s in molecular biology from the University of Cape Town.
