Nicholas Pearce

Communications Officer

Nick is a communications officer for IISD’s Energy program. With a background in journalism and policy research, he is committed to storytelling that connects big picture emissions reductions with practical benefits for everyday Canadians.

Before joining IISD, Nick worked as a journalist in western and northern Canada. While at the Saskatoon StarPhoenix, he won the National Newspaper Award for Local Reporting alongside his co-authors for the Abandoned Saskatchewan special project.

In 2024, he completed his master’s degree in global affairs with a collaborative specialization in environmental studies from the University of Toronto. During his degree, he was a policy researcher at the think tank Common Wealth in London, United Kingdom. Nick also holds a bachelor’s degree (honours) in global development studies from Queen’s University.
