Murtiani Hendriwardani

Policy Advisor

Murtiani Hendriwardani is a policy advisor with the IGF for the IISD Economic Law and Policy Program. Her work focuses on strategic and critical minerals within the context of energy transition.  She is also the IGF’s Association of Southeast Asian Nations and Asia-Pacific Coordinator. Prior to joining the IGF in August 2022, Murtiani was a consultant for IISD’s Energy Program.

Murtiani has extensive experience working across multiple sectors and functions, including financial services, management consulting, international development, and corporate foundation. Since 2010, she has been involved in various sustainable development projects in sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia, ranging from off-grid solar in Cambodia, early-stage biomass-to-energy project financing in Senegal, blended finance for economic diversification in Central Africa, as well as regulatory and institutional assessment for public-private partnerships/project finance for public infrastructure in West Africa.

Murtiani has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Columbia University and a Master of Public Administration from Columbia University and the London School of Economics.

Based in Basel, Switzerland, Murtiani speaks English and some German, and has a basic understanding of French.
