Michael Meehan

Board member

With over 20 years of experience in environmental, social, and governance finance, sustainability, and impact, Michael Meehan is a senior advisor and thought leader to funds, companies, investors, and governments around the world. Throughout his career, he has worked with the White House, the United Nations, the World Economic Forum, and many other organizations in his mission to improve the state of the world through sustainable finance. 

Michael is currently chief executive officer (CEO) of Canoe Carbon and sits on the advisory boards for funds across the European Union, the United States, Canada, and Asia. He is former chairman of the UK Sustainable Investment and Finance Association—a consortium of leading institutional investors with over GBP 11 trillion in assets under management—and co-founder of Forum for Impact, a group of investors and family office principals that promotes global dialogue on impact and sustainable investment. Previously, Michael served as CEO of the Global Reporting Initiative—the largest sustainability standard in the world—as well as CEO of Carbonetworks and vice-chair of the Natural Capital Coalition. Additionally, Michael is adjunct professor of sustainable finance for Gustavson School of Business at the University of Victoria, Canada.
