Asterios Tsioumanis holds a Ph.D. in agricultural economics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, focusing on cross-cultural differences and the impact of international policies on consumer attitudes towards genetically modified organisms. He has academic teaching experience in Greece, and his research focuses on trade and environment, with a focus on biosafety and intellectual property rights, as well as the ethics and politics of food. He speaks Greek, English, French, Spanish and Russian.
