Emissions Ambition for Sustainable Economies (EASE) in Southeast Asia

EASE is a 5-year initiative funded by Global Affairs Canada that supports efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Viet Nam.

The project focuses on inclusive carbon pricing policies and mechanisms that enable equitable, low-carbon development. In this context, IISD works with governments, industry, workers’ groups, local communities, and traditionally marginalized groups to design, improve, and support the implementation of national carbon pricing approaches.

The project advances carbon pricing approaches that are informed by just transition principles and gender equality and social inclusion. It aims to drive emission reductions needed to achieve nationally determined contributions, while ensuring those most affected by carbon pricing have a meaningful voice in policy design and implementation.

Energy Is Key to a Climate Stable Future (EnerKey)

The EnerKey project, funded by Global Affairs Canada, aims to help mitigate climate change by supporting the decarbonization of transport and power sectors in Indonesia and the Philippines.

The project provides tailored policy support to reduce emissions by advancing the electrification of transport, while developing strategies to ensure the power system can absorb the associated increased demand.

As a strategic priority, the project integrates gender equality and social inclusion and Just Transition practices to support the development of energy policies that advance emissions reductions and strengthen social protection.
