Dr. Mari Pantsar is the Director of the Carbon-Neutral Circular Economy theme at Sitra, the Finnish Innovation Fund, which is the future fund of Finland. Dr. Pantsar joined Sitra in 2014 and leads the climate solutions, circular economy, sustainable everyday life and World Circular Economy Forum programs. Her task is to help Finland develop into an ecologically sustainable, competitive society.
Mari has about 20 years of experience in cleantech business development. After managing the environmental team for forestry giant UPM, she moved to public and private positions in the cleantech sector. She led, among other things, the Finnish Cleantech Cluster and the Finnish government’s cleantech strategy program. She has also served on the boards of several cleantech companies.
Today, Mari is the co-chairman of the Circular Economy Group of the Northern Dimension Business Council, a member of the management board of a Nordic cleantech fund and a member of several international circular economy working groups.
Mari has a Ph.D. from the University of Helsinki. She is also an adjunct professor at the University of Helsinki and the Lappeenranta University of Technology.
