Jose Luis Rodriguez Gil

Research Scientist, IISD-ELA

Jose Luis Rodriguez Gil is an ecotoxicologist and environmental risk assessor with over a decade of experience characterizing the fate and effects of contaminants in fresh water. He has worked with a variety of compounds including pesticides, pharmaceuticals, personal care products, plastic additives, and oil spills, among others.

He is a Research Scientist at IISD Experimental Lakes Area where his research uses ecological-level studies to discover and characterize the complex effects of contaminants in freshwater ecosystems.

Jose Luis is also an adjunct professor at the University of Manitoba where he teaches data science - specifically on the use of R - and environmental risk assessment, advising undergraduate and graduate students working both at the world’s freshwater laboratory, and further afield.
