Canada and Indonesia Conclude CEPA with Modernized Investor–State Dispute Provisions
Canada and Indonesia have concluded a new Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), establishing an updated framework for trade and investment relations between both countries. It is expected to take effect after ratification in 2026. The Investment Chapter of the CEPA incorporates modern investor–state dispute settlement provisions, including explicit rules on the consolidation of claims, transparency, limits on frivolous claims, and acknowledgement of state regulatory rights.
