Olaf Scholz’s first visit to Canada as German chancellor appears to have pulled the two countries closer.
Scholz and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau signed a “hydrogen alliance” that will see the two G7 nations co-operate on building a clean hydrogen economy, and German auto giants Volkswagen AG and Mercedes-Benz Group AG expressed interest in securing toeholds in a country that they have tended to see only as a market, not a node on their supply chains.
