Bali Trade Ministerial on Trade and Climate Change

In December 2007, on the margins of the UNFCCC COP-13, trade ministers met over two days at the invitation of Indonesia's Minister Mari Pangestu to discuss the linkages between trade and climate change policies. The focus was on ways in which trade policy might help to achieve climate change objectives, while also achieving the goals of the trade regime. It was the first time Ministers had met to discuss these issues.

IISD assisted the Government of Indonesia in preparations for the event, and prepared two background papers that formed the basis of the discussions.
