IISD participates on a panel of judges for the Corporate Reporting Awards presented by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.

For over 50 years, the CICA Corporate Reporting Awards has recognized and rewarded excellence in corporate reporting. Prior to the 1990s, the competition focused on a corporation's "annual report" to shareholders. Since 1993, the awards have recognized environmental reporting and, more recently, sustainable development reporting, corporate governance disclosure and electronic disclosure.

Each year, IISD evaluates over 30 Canadian reports from an array of sectors including mining; financial services; diversified industries; oil and gas; life sciences and technology; real estate; forest products; industries and energy; consumer products; communications and media; and utilities and pipelines.

One hundred and five corporate reports were submitted to the sustainable development reporting competition in 2005. The award winners included:
