Insights from Communities

Farmers and water resource managers have a long history of adapting to climate shocks and stresses. However, the current climate change phenomenon is projected to exacerbate these shocks and stresses, and to result in long-term changes in precipitation and evapouration. Increasing our capacity to cope is imperative.

This phase of the project is conducting field research in several communities in India and Canada to study how communities have coped with historical climate stresses, the policies which helped or hindered this ability to cope, and the adaptive features of key policies which helped the policies perform successfully under a range of anticipated and unanticipated conditions.

Stay tuned to this Web page in 2007 for insights gleaned from our community-level research.
