Leveraging Intraregional Trade of Organic Products from the Eastern Africa Region

The International Institute for Sustainable Development in collaboration with the East African Community (EAC), the African Organic Agriculture Network, and the National Organic Agricultural Movement of Uganda, convened a multistakeholder workshop to explore strategies for enhancing the formal trade of organic products in the EAC.

The workshop served as a platform for policymakers, national bureaus of standards, organic producers, certification bodies, and value chain actors to engage in dialogue and co-create solutions for strengthening the formal trade of organic products in the continent.

Following the event, 49 delegates from across 16 African nations came together to sign a joint declaration on boosting organic trade in the region. Read the full declaration.
