Francesca Nugnes

Francesca is an economist, expert of impact investments in agriculture and forestry SMEs of developing countries. She has developed guides for private investments in sustainable forestry with GIZ (Mexico, Guatemala), in agriculture with Global Affairs Canada (Tanzania) and in agroforestry SMEs with DfID (DR Congo). She has piloted tested impact investment indicators in Peru, Ghana, Indonesia and Bolivia. She has worked with coffee cooperatives (Nicaragua), and in green investments in West Africa with OIF. She is member of the UN Committee for Food Security and has an expertise in social economy. She is a PhD candidate at The York School of Management (University of York, UK) working on cross-sector collaborations between NGOs, impact investors and agriculture SME in developing countries. In the past she has worked in applied research at the University of Amsterdam, at Brown University and in financial statistics at Eurostat (Luxembourg). Francesca has worked 9 years in corporate finance at Unicredit (France) and in Canada for a private/public partnership to create cooperatives for women entrepreneurs. She has lived in ten countries, speaks four languages, is a jogger and the mother of three children.
