{"id":67,"date":"2019-01-22T22:51:31","date_gmt":"2019-01-22T22:51:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.savi.com\/?post_type=savi-how-savi-works&#038;p=67"},"modified":"2022-11-03T07:15:04","modified_gmt":"2022-11-03T14:15:04","slug":"simulation","status":"publish","type":"savi-how-savi-works","link":"https:\/\/www.iisd.org\/savi\/savi-works\/simulation\/","title":{"rendered":"Simulation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SAVi combines the outputs of systems thinking and system dynamics simulation with project finance modelling. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n<div class=\"toggle-faq-wrapper sj-block content-wrapper\"><div class=\"faq-question toggle-target\"><h3 class=\"entry-title single-title\" itemprop=\"headline\" rel=\"bookmark\">System Dynamics Modelling<\/h3><\/div><div class=\"faq-content toggle-content\"><div class=\"entry-content\"><p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>SAVi system dynamics modelling is conducted using <a href=\"https:\/\/vensim.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vensim<\/a>, an industrial-strength software that can be used for simulating social, economic and environmental systems.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>The model forecasts how the infrastructure project will affect and be affected by the environmental, social and economic dynamics of the \u201csystem\u201d in which it is being planned, financed, built and operated. We develop systems maps or causal loop diagrams for a fast, accurate analysis of causes, effects and resulting model dynamics. Once this blueprint is complete, we create the mathematical model. We then simulate different risk scenarios to calculate how the asset performs under each of them. We can also change model inputs in real time, generating updated results within seconds.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Despite the variety of scenarios and outcomes that can be generated using the SAVi system dynamics models, simulation experts may consider this range to be relatively limited.
