SAVi was featured\nduring a presentation at the United Nations Economic Commission for Asia and\nthe Pacific (UNESCAP) meeting on \u201cLiving within our planetary limits,\u201d held from\nOctober 17-18, 2019, in Bangkok, Thailand. The UNESCAP meeting included a\ndiscussion of the Economic and Social Survey of Asia and the Pacific 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Participants from finance\nministries and financial sector regulators from the region discussed the\nimportance of addressing environmental, social and economic and governance\nrisks and externalities. IISD used the track record of SAVi to demonstrate how\nwe can calculate the dollar value of risks and externalities and show their\nimpacts on financial performance. Participants\nparticularly expressed interest in the SAVi internal rate of return and the SAVi\nnet present value that includes the costs and gains from externalities. The\nparticipants agreed that even though some of the externalities might not\ndirectly affect project revenues or costs, the SAVi internal rate of return and\nthe SAVi net present value were critically important to understand the \u201csystemic\u201d\nvalue of assets and services.
