Overview<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This module provides an\nintroduction to systems analysis and system dynamics. It illustrates the\nimportance of systems analysis for understanding today\u2019s complex problems and\ndeveloping infrastructure-related solutions. It then moves on to introduce\nsystem dynamics, one of the modelling schools used in the SAVi methodology. The\nmodule concludes with information on how the system dynamics models for the\ndifferent asset types were built. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The module also\nincludes training model files for each asset type. They require using the <strong>Vensim<\/strong>\nsoftware, which can be downloaded for free <a href=\"https:\/\/vensim.com\/free-download\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The module covers the\nfollowing topics:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/iisd.org\/savi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/savi-academy-systems-thinking-dynamics-final.pdf\">What is Systems Analysis and System Dynamics modelling?<\/a><\/strong> This presentation focuses on the characteristics of systems analysis and system dynamics modeling. It explains why these tools are important for dealing with complexity, such as those surrounding the development of sustainable infrastructure.<\/li><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/iisd.org\/savi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/savi-academy-clds-vensim-final.pdf\">How do you build a Causal Loop Diagram?<\/a><\/strong> This presentation explains the process for designing a causal loop diagram with Vensim. These diagrams are an important component of systems dynamics modelling.<\/li><li><strong>System Dynamics Training Models.<\/strong> These training models include a <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/SAVIvensim\"><strong>series of Vensim files<\/strong><\/a>, organized per asset type. It provides guidance for their use. We have also prepared a <a href=\"https:\/\/iisd.org\/savi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/vensim-installation-and-guide.pdf\"><strong>guide on installing and using Vensim<\/strong><\/a>, as well as an overview of the <a href=\"https:\/\/iisd.org\/savi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/vensim-file-savi-key-features.pdf\"><strong>key features of the SAVi Vensim file<\/strong><\/a>.
