Matt Gillman is an Environmental Advisor with the Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, and Sustainable Development (IGF).
Prior to joining the IGF, he spent several years in the private sector working on environmental management issues including: water management strategy and planning, regulatory relations and compliance, water balances and modelling, monitoring and reporting, water stewardship and sustainability, permitting processes, and stakeholder and community engagement. Most recently, Matt held a senior role within the environmental team for a Canadian mining company with operations in northern Canada. In that role he focused on water management while also working on permitting processes and Indigenous stakeholder engagement.
He holds a Master of Science degree in physical geography from Queen’s University and is based in Ottawa, Canada.
