Janetta McKenzie

Policy Analyst

Janetta McKenzie is a policy analyst with IISD’s Energy team. Janetta works on energy governance, fossil fuel subsidies, and just transitions in Canada. Her research interests include the political economy of fossil fuels, contemporary issues in energy security, and the design of effective governance mechanisms.

Before joining IISD, Janetta previously worked with the University of Calgary’s School of Public Policy, where she analyzed a range of policy issues in the area of extractive resource governance, and as a regulatory analyst in Alberta’s energy sector. She also has extensive research experience in international climate governance.

Janetta holds an M.Phil. in government and international relations from the University of Sydney, and an M.Sc. in comparative politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She is currently working on her doctorate from the University of Waterloo, analyzing regulatory governance in the energy sector.
