Catherine van Reenen
Water Policy and Youth Engagement Officer
As Water Policy and Youth Engagement Officer, Catherine supports the coordination and management of youth engagement on sustainable development issues. She also supports IISD’s Water Program with policy research, analysis, and reporting. Catherine was IISD’s Project Coordinator for the AquaHacking Lake Winnipeg 2020 Challenge, a startup competition for youth to develop tech solutions to critical freshwater issues, and has assisted with various education and outreach initiatives.
Prior to joining IISD, Catherine completed her M.A. in media studies at Concordia University. She has over five years of experience working as a research assistant coordinating project logistics, organizing public lectures and workshops, writing grant applications, and analyzing research materials.
