In contrast, a May 2018 letter <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alec.org\/article\/modernization-of-the-north-america-free-trade-agreement\/\">in support of ISDS in NAFTA<\/a> gathered the signatures of 12 state legislators only.<\/p>\n<p>ISDS finds strong support among Republicans in the U.S. Congress. A group of 103 Republican senators and representatives signed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.finance.senate.gov\/imo\/media\/doc\/ISDS%20Letter%20to%20Amb.%20Lighthizer1.pdf\">letter on March 20, 2018<\/a> calling on Lighthizer to maintain ISDS in NAFTA.
