The revised treaty is reported to contain an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iareporter.com\/articles\/china-and-russia-sign-updated-bit-featuring-investor-state-arbitration-provision\/\">investor\u2013state dispute settlement provision<\/a>, confirming both states\u2019 continued reliance on arbitration as the primary dispute settlement mechanism, despite growing debates on <span class='tooltipsall tooltipsincontent classtoolTips43'>ISDS<\/span> reform. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cfr.org\/article\/china-russia-ukraine-may-2025\">Analysts<\/a> note that the revision comes amid geopolitical realignment and rising trade flows between the two countries. In particular, the new investment treaty is viewed as a strategic instrument for facilitating Chinese investment in Russian energy, infrastructure, and technology projects, while providing Russian investors with reciprocal protection in China.
