Jonas Kuehl

Policy Analyst

Jonas Kuehl is a policy analyst in the IISD Energy program. His recent work has included efforts to encourage the measuring and reform of fossil fuel subsidies, the promotion of innovative models to scale up renewable energies, and just transition.

Before joining IISD, Jonas worked on green fiscal policies for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and new energy solutions for the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). In the past, he also spent a few years in China, among others, working for the Sino-German Environment Partnership, a project under the auspices of the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

Jonas holds a bachelor's degree in political science and East Asian studies from Heidelberg University and a master’s degree in standardization, social regulation and sustainable development, an interdisciplinary program jointly offered by the University of Geneva and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). He also spent one semester at the University of Toronto as part of his master’s program.
