IISD Experimental Lakes Area Open House 2018

If you live in northwestern Ontario, the world’s freshwater laboratory—IISD Experimental Lakes Area—is on your doorstep, and you have an opportunity to see it first-hand!

On Saturday, September 29, you can tour the site, including the chemistry and fish laboratories and get your hands dirty out on the lakes catching fish in a seine net and sweeping up zooplankton.

Our scientists will be there to answer all of your burning questions about environmental science and fresh water.

We will be providing a bus from the Kenora Recreation Centre leaving at 8:00 a.m. returning around 5:00 p.m. If you want to drive yourself, let us know and we can provide directions and a road pass.

Participants should bring their own lunch, comfortable walking shoes and rain gear as needed. The Open House is free of charge.

To register please email Émilie Ferguson at or call (807) 226-5162 ext 225.
