From acid rain and algal blooms to climate change and cramped fish\u2014our 50-year history has left us with a pretty long list.<\/p>\n<p>To celebrate #ELA50, we put together a list of five of our favourites.\u00a0Scroll through them, read more and have fun learning!<\/p>\n<h2>1) Why algal blooms take over lakes. And how we can stop them.<\/h2>\n<p>Our raison d&#8217;\u00eatre. Researchers in the 1970s discovered that adding phosphorus to a lake resulted in &#8220;eutrophication&#8221;\u2014smelly and unsightly algal blooms.
