Help Us Raise $15,678 for a Much-Needed ATV this Giving Tuesday

IISD Experimental Lakes Area is thrilled to taking part again in Canada’s biggest annual celebration of giving—Giving Tuesday!

Giving Tuesday is a global movement for giving and volunteering, taking place each year after Black Friday. Giving Tuesday harnesses the potential of social media and the generosity of people around the world to bring about real change in their communities; it provides a platform for them to encourage the donation of time, resources and talents to address local challenges.

Like a boss

For the full month of November right up until December 3, 2019 (Giving Tuesday), every dollar you donate will help us reach our (very exact) target of $15,678.

$15,678 will buy us a much-needed Polaris Sportsman® 6×6 570 ATV—otherwise known as The Big Boss—to help everyone at the world’s freshwater laboratory to navigate our terrain and carry vital equipment from one lake to another.

Does it stop there?

Of course not!

Thanks to an incredibly generous donation from our partner Red River Co-op, we can double every single donation we get from the public, up to $5,000.

That’s right—every dollar you give us up to $5,000 will be doubled, so you can be sure that your donation to the world’s freshwater laboratory is getting the best bang for its buck.

We are extremely grateful for Red River Co-op’s continued partnership and support.

Our goal of $15,678 will buy us a much-needed Polaris Sportsman® 6×6 570 ATV to help our researchers navigate our terrain and carry vital equipment from one lake to another.

What impact can my money have?

During our summers and winters, our team of scientists and researchers need to be able to navigate the lakes safely and quickly, transporting equipment, samples and themselves across our 58 lakes.

This Polaris Sportsman® 6×6 570 ATV will be a critical part of our infrastructure, and will help ensure that the vital freshwater research we conduct every year—from the impact of cannabis on fresh water to what microplastics do to fish—can take place safely and efficiently.

And we are extremely grateful for the continued support and partnership of Polaris, whom we would like to thank for providing us with a preferential discount on their machines on which we depend so greatly.

Thank you for your support!

As always, we could not keep protecting our fresh water without you.

IISD Experimental Lakes Area is a precious scientific asset to be protected for future generations, and we are so fortunate to have you as a part of our IISD-ELA family.

Let’s continue this journey together in protecting our most valuable resource—water.
