Environmental Guarantee
Instrument Description
Finnvera is the official export credit agency for Finland and is wholly owned by the Finnish government. Environmental Guarantees secure investments by companies and according projects throughout Finland that are considered sustainable and improve the Finnish environment.
Eligible Projects and Transactions
Covered projects are investments for water or air protection, waste management, renewable energy projects (wind power parks, biofuel facilities, thermal power plants or other similar applications). The manufacturing of equipment for eligible projects cannot be covered by the Environmental Guarantee.
The feasibility and effectiveness of a project must be certified by an expert opinion. For investments carried out abroad, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs must acquire an expert opinion.

- The guarantee may also be granted for an investment that is carried out abroad but involves substantial improvements to the state of the Finnish environment.

- Size of coverage: maximum of 80 per cent of the principal.
