Elsa is about to finish her PhD on European biosafety legislation (title: “Modern Biotechnology and its Implications for Health and the Environment: the Response of the European legal order”) in the Democritus University of Thrace, with the assistance of a scholarship from the Hellenic Scholarships Foundation. She holds an LL.M in Public Law and Political Science (2000, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece), an LL.M. in European Law (1996, College of Europe, Bruges, Belgium) and a Law Degree (1995, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece). She speaks Greek, English, French and Spanish.
Elsa has been practicing law in the Bar of Thessaloniki since 1998 and is consulting for NGOs in Greece and eastern Europe on environmental and human rights issues. She has also consulted for the Foundation on International Environmental Law and Development (FIELD) on a number of projects and has worked as the Head of the Secretariat of the UNESCO Chair on Education for Human Rights and Peace in the University of Thessaloniki.
