The Wetlands-L mailing list, hosted by the International Institute for Sustainable Development, is an electronic conference moderated jointly by Allen Tyrchniewicz from IISD, Doug Chekay from Ducks Unlimited Canada, and Jim Patterson from Wetlands International - Americas.

The moderators of this discussion group will be using the findings from the April 19-20, 1999 workshop, entitled "Wetlands and Climate Change," as the starting point for discussion. Discussions will examine the role of wetlands in helping the Canadian prairies adapt to climate change.

Two key themes will be reviewed in this discussion forum: the ability of wetlands to sequester carbon, and the role of wetlands in water quantity and quality. The discussion will start with a review of the results from the April 19-20 workshop and expand from there.
