Canadian Flag Canadian Followup to Rio
[ IISDnet Table of Contents ] [Back to IISD's Five Years After Rio page]

Canadians have been preparing for the Special Session of UN General Assembly (Earth Summit +5) in June, 1997. Many have participated in two major conferences designed to input into the Special Session: the Rio +5 Forum, and the 5th Session of the UN Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD). Apart from the official Government inputs, Canadian contributions to the Rio follow-up processes include video production, poetry, and numerous papers analysing Canadian action (and inaction). For a more historical perspective about sustainability in Canada see our "Canadian Planning for a Sustainable Future" section on IISDnet.

IISD has prepared this page to track Canadian assessments of progress (or lack thereof) since Rio in 1992. This page is divided into two (2) main sections:

Reports About Canada: provides links to reports about sustainable development progress (or lack thereof) in Canada since 1992 (includes official Government Reports); and
Reports by Canadians: provides links to reports by Canadians which have a broader focus than Canada (usually global).

We are continuing to look for Canadian Content. If you have any suggestions, we would appreciate your help in tracking down organizations (or URLs) which have assessed progress since Rio. Please send any suggestions to: sanderson@iisdpost.iisd.ca.
