Support to Uganda’s National Designated Authority to the Green Climate Fund and Development of Uganda’s Country Programme

The objectives of this project was to provide support to Uganda’s NDA in developing a procedure to assess projects and provide no-objection letters, to meet the requirements of the GCF.

A pre-requisite for projects to receive funding from the Green Climate Fund (GCF) is to demonstrate that the government supports the projects. This is done through a “no-objection procedure” conducted by the National Designated Authority (NDA) to the GCF.

The objectives of this project was to provide support to Uganda’s NDA in developing a procedure to assess projects and provide no-objection letters, to meet the requirements of the GCF. The work entailed the establishment of a streamlined and efficient no-objection procedure and a coordination mechanism for the NDA to enable Uganda take ownership of GCF-financed programme and projects. The project also led to the development of Uganda’s GCF Country Programme in line with existing climate plans and strategies. The project was implemented by IISD and New Climate Institute.
