The Emerging Leaders for Governance and Communication program is supported through Netcorps, a Government of Canada program funded by Industry Canada and managed by a coalition of nine Canadian development agencies and NGOs (Alternatives, Canada World Youth, Canadian Crossroads International, Canadian Society for International Health, CUSO, Human Rights Internet, Oxfam-Quebec, VSO Canada and the International Institute for Sustainable Development).
The program seeks to blend together the use of information and communication technologies and e-governance within public and parapublic institutions and civil society organizations working to improve governance in developing countries. It focuses on the use of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to strengthen the governance, infrastructure and capacity of civil society organizations.
The program includes a training session prior to departure, a six- to eight-month international work placement and a debriefing after completing the placement.
