GSI Event: Uneven Returns? The Economics of the European Biofuels Policy

STRASBOURG—17 April—a breakfast event was held at the European Parliament Members' Salon on the costs and benefits of EU biofuel policies. The event was titled, ‘Uneven returns? The economics of the European biofuels policy’ and hosted by MEP’s Alejo Vidal-Quadras Roca (Rapporteur of ILUC dossier in ITRE) and Corinne Lepage (Rapporteur of ILUC dossier in ENVI). Chris Charles (Global Subsidies Initiative) provided a presentation on the key findings from the recent GSI research publication “Biofuels - At What Cost? A review of costs and benefits of EU biofuel policies.” The report reviews EU biofuel market economics. Nuša Urbančič, Programme Manager for Clean Fuels, Transport & Environment delivered a presentation on ILUC and biofuels.
